The 6-8 Dashboard analyzes historical game performance data and 6-8 Challenge testing results to determine an athlete's current global positioning and chances of success in college and beyond.
The results of the model are transformed into composite scores, ranging from 0 - 10, which represent the performance, athleticism and overall potential (6-8 power) of a water polo athlete. Rankings shown represent an athlete's score relative to all other players in their age group and by position.
Here are how scores are calculated:
Performance Rating (PI +/-)
The 6-8 PI is a weighted formula of stats that calculates the impact a player has on a game. The overall Performance Rating is calculated by taking an athlete's average PI and determining the percentile ranking in the athlete’s age group & position and converting that into a number between 1 -10.
Athleticism Rating (6-8 Challenge Testing)
The overall Athleticism Rating is calculated by a weighted formula that incorporates all 6-8 Challenge drills & swim tests results available. The overall results are calculated as a percentile ranking for age group and position and then converted into a number between 1- 10.
Note: the search bar allows users to filter by individual Challenge and swim tests.
6-8 Power Rating (Athleticism + Performance)
The 6-8 Power Rating is a combination of an athlete’s Athleticism & Performance Ratings by age group and position. The original calculation is done by percentile ranking and then converted into a number between 1 - 20.
Note: Athletes who do not perform specific 6-8 testing drills can reach out to 6-8 to be tested either virtually or in-person to calculate their Athleticism score.
